The Eucharist means to live as brothers and sisters of Jesus. If sharing in the Eucharist is to mean more than going to Mass and providing nourishment for our own private spiritual lives, we must rise above the divisions and injustices of society which keep us apart and prevent us forming a closer bond within the community. There is no way we can offer ourselves to God in the Eucharist and not try and love our neighbour. For God to love through us we must try to be loving also, to be the healing presence, the helping hand, the voice of sympathy and words of encouragement when they are needed. In this way we will be shaped and formed by what we celebrate
