Happy Father's Day

Father's Day is celebrated with a lot of vigour, fanfare and enthusiasm by children all across the world. It gives them a perfect opportunity to articulate feelings and gratitude to their dearest daddy. Right from throwing a grand party to hosting a brunch or even getting gifts and presents, there are a lot of things that children indulge in. While entertainment takes most of the celebration aspect, expression of love, care, concern and gratitude follows a close second.

It is a day to honour our fathers for the blessing that they are to us. This is good and right that we do this and be sure to honour your father today!

Now for some of us, our fathers are long gone. But that does not mean we don’t have a Father to honour today. In fact this is “The Father’s Day,” a great day to thank and praise our heavenly Father.

Fathering makes up at least half the nurturing we need growing up and in the nature of the circle of life, fathering is then given in turn when we mature. Fathers are known as and become the backbone of our life and personality, especially during our formative years. The role gives structure and we all know any construction needs a solid foundation to hold the innards. Fathers are like the foundation and frame of the house, sometimes hardly seen but always important. Fathers and those who father as in the verb, give an invaluable service to the development of kids, grandkids and all they come in contact with in their lives.

Let’s take time on this occasion to give appreciation to all those who gave us fathering, and ask for strength that we will have the insight to give fathering when called upon in return.

Dear fathers everywhere
For your strong and caring ways
Appreciation we give today.
And, for teaching us
That patience, kindness
Carries us through every day.
